Antoinette and Paul Krieg have been managing Casa Cares since 1985. Antoinette, Swiss and trained as a nurse, and Paul, American trained as a teacher for the Lutheran school system and with a Ph.D. in special education, worked in social services before accepting the invitation of the Waldensians to return to Italy to manage their guesthouse. Completing the staff are four Italians: Iris, the much appreciated cook, started in 1991; Giuseppe is the maintenance person, Luca the farmer, and Elisa manages the facility.
Casa Cares would not be possible without the support it receives from it's staff of international volunteers. A good part of the cleaning, maintenance, kitchen help, and land work is carried out by volunteers coming from throughout Europe and the United States and from as far away as Australia and India. Volunteers stay at Casa Cares for a few weeks, months, or even years. They are provided with room and board and are expected to put in at least 35 hours of work each week. Please contact us for more information if you are interested in becoming a member of the Casa Cares volunteering family.
